Tuesday Club Notes

Linapuni's Tuesday Club events are currently postponed due to the pandemic. Please check back for information on when we can resume our Tuesday Club activities. We're itchin' to see you all!  

11/21/17 - Read Aloud

    • ​Commit to a different routine from the 1st quarter.

    • 577-7 Parents Control & Duties
      • Discipline
        • Support families
    • Attendance Law
      • Requires a child who is at least 5 years of age & not yet 18 on Jan 1st of any school year attend a public or private school.
        • Consequences- Any child persists in absenting  oneself from school. The family court judge, shall cause.
        •  The child & parent or guardian to be summoned to appear before the judge.
        • A parent or guardian who doesn't enforce the child's regular school attendance may be guilty of a petty misdemeanor.  
        • Fine up to $1000. 30 days in jail.
      • What does absent mean?
        • A student is not present in school for at least half the school day. Exception is excused absences.
      • What does tardy mean?
        • A student who reports to school after the starting time designated by the school.
      • What is Truancy?
        • Any student found off campus during regular school hours & without a pass.
      • What is chapter 19?
        • Admin rule that covers student conduct
          • If they violate chapter 19, they can be prosecuted by school and police.
    • Child and Family Services - Juvenile program
      • 24 Hour program.
      • Ensures a clean arrest record when it comes to their future job or military service.
      • Helps troubled kids on the verge of being incarcerated.
      • 30 day program.

  • ​Body is made up of 50% water
  • Choose water instead of more sugary drinks like soda and juice
  • Even sports drinks have a lot of sugar.
  • If you must drink a sugary drink, moderate and alternate with water.
  • Always have water with you.

  • Wash hands for twenty seconds once suds from soap have formed.

o   Have an active lifestyle with 45 minutes a week of vigorous activity and 20 minutes
§  Vigorous activity will not be used towards punishment according to the wellness policy
o   Continue starting the day by eating a healthy breakfast.
§  Create better eating and drinking habits.
§   Limit sugary drinks and fatty foods.
·         Absenteeism
o   80% of student will have 3 or less per quarter.
·         New BOE Policy
o   BOE Policy 1110-6 to be implemented in SY 18-19
§  Ice cream & cake will no longer be allowed to be brought in for birthday celebrations.

    • During breaks, they will be able to receive the amount for the Fridays they will be away from.
  • August 29th, Principal Sunhara will be hosting Coffee hour in Cafeteria.
  • Please help and volunteer.
  • Continue to attend the Tuesday Club and learn more about what goes on at Linapuni.

​- 16-17 Sy 13% of Linapuni Students are  chronically absent. In the 15-16 SY, the expectation of 80% of all sudents would have 3 or less absences.
- Solo cup idea to boost awareness of chronic absenteeism and ways to ensure your children arrive to school on time.
​-Next week, we will deliver the absenteeism message throughout the area.
​- Discussed way to encourage Students to attend school. GAMES!!!!!

​- The first order of the days was making Bacon Brussel Sprouts.

​It Includes:

​1 Lb. Chopped Brussel Sprouts
​1 Packet of Bacon - Diced
​1 Quarter of a Yellow Onion
Season with Garlic Salt and Pepper

​Tips:
​To Steam vegetables, Add a little water and cover.

​- Kumo Alaina joins Tuesday Club to lead a great Zumba class. Members of the Tuesday club were able to shake, jump, and move to some reggaeton.
